Editor (French Editorial)
Reporting to: Vice-President and Editor-in-Chief, Magazines

Position summary:

Location of position: Montreal

 

Responsibilities

 

The Sélection editorial team is looking for an Editor who will be mainly responsible for the development of original articles and adaptations for Sélection. Works with freelance writers and writers-on-contract, and develops a writer network sufficient for the magazine's needs. Supervises the work of editors involved in article development. The Editor must assist in the planning of the content of the magazine and ensure that it respects the spirit, tone and image of the Sélection du Reader’s Digest brand.

 

Education / Experience

 
  • Bachelor's degree in arts, journalism, literature, communications or translation.
  • 3 to 5 years' journalistic or publishing experience, in the Quebec market.
 

Skills / Aptitudes

 
  • Superior writing and editing skills in French.
  • Bilingual, with excellent comprehension of written English.
  • Some practical knowledge of the graphic arts, design, printing and desktop publishing.
  • Ability to lead and motivate editorial staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure, on budget and to agreed schedules.

Circulation Director
Reporting to: Vice-President, Consumer Marketing, Reader’s Digest North America

Position summary:
 

Location of position: Montreal

 

Responsibilities

 

This key position in Reader’s Digest Canada’s marketing team will be responsible for all circulation activities for all RDC magazines including strategy, planning and development. The Circulation Director will provide guidance and direction to the company’s circulation department and is responsible for developing circulation processes and monitoring overall performance of marketing efforts to ensure maximum effectiveness.

 
  • Oversees all facets of circulation (acquisition and renewals) for all company publications.
  • Reviews, approves and manages circulation budget for all RDC magazines.  Works with staff to achieve profit targets.
  • Guides and motivates the team to strategize and implement ideas and solutions.  Oversees the development of new marketing ideas.
  • Develops circulation marketing objectives as well as long- and short-term strategy.  Monitors performance against goals.
  • Approves plans and policies related circulation’s marketing efforts and activities.
  • Collaborates with a variety of functional areas such as Finance, Digital Media, and Database Marketing.
  • Develops ideas, marketing plans and budgets for any new magazine launches.
  • Works with staff to identify and capture target audience for circulation acquisition and retention efforts.
  • Analyzes market trends and recommends new approaches to planning.
 

Qualifications

 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or equivalent field of study.
  • Minimum of 10 years of applicable circulation and/or direct marketing experience.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage constant change.  Able to lead, motivate and empower others to reach department objectives.

Digital Project Management (consultant, duration of 6 months)
Reporting to: Interim Web Team Manager

Position summary:

Responsibilities

 

Project Management

 

Managing project execution and implementation of assigned digital projects:  web content and production projects, web development projects and the list of the digital department projects.

 

This includes:

 
  • Developing and managing workback schedules
  • Effectively supervises marketing tactics/plans within budget and ensures all projects are delivered on time.  Identifies required changes to the project scope/budget and timelines to ensure the planned project plan. Ensure that all stakeholders obtain and process supplier quotations and monitors, tracks and maintains budget expenditures and timelines.
  • Translating business needs into functional specifications and actionable work plans.
  • Validating the feasibility of the projects
  • Contributing to the development of program mechanics
  • Lead multidisciplinary taskforces to ensure that each involved department is on track with project milestones and keeps team on track to achieve on-time, on-budget and on-strategy tactical plans
  • Review and proofread marketing materials for content accuracy and tone while also focusing on identified project objectives, foals, positioning and branding.  Recommend changes and revise content in order to meet project objectives.
  • Ensure project consistency, offer and project quality assurance
  • Executing front end quality control and ensuring that back end quality control has been done by each stakeholder
  • Attending marketing team meetings as required
  • Archiving and documenting all department projects for future access; create documentation repository
  • Work with cross functional teams to gain an understanding of product/service updates and offerings to meet marketing communication objectives

  • Implementing process to maximise the group efficencie, productivity and quality in collaboratio with the Manager
  • Develop and implement tools and processes to ensure proper project management as required, including post-mortems
  • Ensuring that the process is followed by all team members
 

Education / Experience

 
  • Bachelor of Communication, Marketing or technical diploma/degree from a recognized post secondary institution
  • PMP accreditation is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience in project management for digital projects
  • Must have knowledge of digital platforms and an understanding of how people use them
  • Must have experience in facilitating the delivery of online interactive production
  • Experience in creative project management tools and processes
  • Extensive and detailed knowledge of internet and/or software development technologies
  • Working knowledge of enterprise web server hardware platforms and configurations
  • Experience managing multiple projects at the same time
  • Proficient skills in MS Office Suite including MS Project or equivalent
  • Knowledge of direct marketing is an asset

Advertising Sales Internship (Toronto Office)
Reporting to: Sales Analyst, Integrated Sales

Position summary:

Location of position:  Toronto

 

The Advertising Sales Intern position assists Sales Analyst and Account Managers in day-to-day functions of advertising tasks. They will liaise with internal departments and occasionally external agencies and clients. As a team player in the advertising sales department, the Intern is also responsible for being the liaison between the Montreal - Vancouver - Toronto Advertising Sales teams.

Project Manager – 6 month contract position
Reporting to: Project Manager

Position summary:

Location of position: Toronto

 

Position Summary:

 

This position works closely with the sales, creative solutions and production teams as well as clients in order to maximize efficiency and quality of work for all RDMedia assets (including print, digital, database, contests and social media).

The incumbent is responsible for the project management and implementation of all assigned Marketing Solutions programs in collaboration with the Marketing Solutions team. 


Responsibilities

 
  • Responsible for the development, project management and execution of sold programs (single or multi-title), and assigned Integrated Marketing Solutions programs in collaboration with the Marketing Solutions team such as, but not limited to:
    - Print: advertorials
    - Digital programs: microsites, e-blasts, online advertising
    - Promotional contests (through Reader’s Digest sites and through Facebook)
    - Social media: iPad advertising, Facebook sponsorships
    - Database initiatives: MYH & VOH booklets
  • Participate in all respective Client briefings in order to execute and deliver sold programs based on the needs and objectives of each and every Client
  • Manage copywriting, translations and proof-reading for respective programs
  • Responsible for development of Facebook and iPad house ads for Reader’s Digest, Sélection, Best Health and Our Canada
  • Responsible for 3 recurring Best Health contests – in magazine and online
    Secure supplier quotes for direct mail programs and collateral elements
    Developing and managing workback schedules
 

Education / Experience

 
  • Bachelor of Arts or Business Administration from a recognized post-secondary institution or related field
  • 3-5 years+ previous experience ideally in an agency setting dealing with multiple media platforms
  • Experience in facilitating contests
  • Experience in working with social media platforms / programs
  • Experience in digital platforms
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, specifically PowerPoint. Intermediate Excel required.
